About Searchlight Learning

Searchlight Learning

The Story So Far

Searchlight Learning was founded in 2020 to meet the needs of children and young people across Gloucestershire who were out of school or college and required specialist support through tailored one-to-one tuition. Many had not had their needs met in previous educational settings and felt traumatised and burned out by their experiences. As a result, they had become disengaged from learning.

Our mission was to help them reconnect and re-engage through a gentle, therapeutic approach that views the whole person and builds on their strengths and interests. As our name suggests, we aim to be a light in the darkness, helping each young person discover what works for them — and so Searchlight Learning was born.

Today, our service continues to grow and develop. Through positive feedback and word of mouth, our reputation across Gloucestershire for providing a professional, unique and effective service that delivers strong outcomes for young people has spread.

We were invited by Gloucestershire County Council to become an approved provider, delivering tailored support for young people in receipt of EHCP funding. We are also commissioned by primary and secondary schools to support students who are working towards returning to school, providing carefully structured packages to help achieve this goal.

Parents who commission our service regularly share positive feedback about the impact of our work and how pleased they are to have found us.

As a result, our service is expanding, enabling us to reach more young people who need our support.
