Counselling for Young People
At Searchlight Learning, our counselling is a compassionate, person-centred service designed to support the emotional wellbeing of young people alongside their learning. Our trained and experienced counsellors specialise in working with children and young people with SEND and neurodivergent conditions, creating a safe and trusting space where individuals feel heard, respected and supported. Sessions are tailored to each young person’s needs and delivered using gentle, evidence-based approaches that promote self-understanding, emotional regulation and confidence. By working at the young person’s pace, counselling helps them feel more secure, engaged and ready to move forward both academically and personally.
“The service was at all times professional and organised. I would highly recommend.”

Working together ethically
At Searchlight Learning, our tutors, therapeutic mentors and counsellors work together within one service to provide joined-up support. Counselling remains a confidential space for young people, and information shared in sessions is not routinely passed on to others. With informed consent, counsellors may share general strategies that support learning and wellbeing, without disclosing personal details.
Confidentiality is only broken where there are safeguarding concerns or a risk of harm, in line with professional and legal responsibilities. This approach is explained clearly to young people and families from the outset, ensuring transparency, trust and confidence in the support we provide.
