Return to School Packages

At Searchlight Learning, our Return to School packages provide specialist support for young people who are finding it difficult to attend school following a period of absence. We work closely with the young person, their parents or carers and the school to create a supportive, joined-up plan that helps them feel safe, confident and ready to return to learning onsite.

Following careful discussion and assessment, our experienced tutors and therapeutic mentors design a bespoke programme tailored to the young person’s needs. Support may begin at home, in school, in the community, or through a blended approach, gradually building readiness and confidence. With a strong focus on emotional wellbeing and positive relationships, we work collaboratively to reduce barriers to attendance and support a successful, sustainable reintegration into school.

“I am so thankful to have found Searchlight Learning. My son has a PDA profile and struggles to engage with any formal learning. Right from the start Searchlight Learning tutors have gone out of their way to work with him in a highly bespoke way, accommodating high complex needs and creatively supporting and adapting learning opportunities.”

Working together ethically

At Searchlight Learning, our tutors, therapeutic mentors and counsellors work together within one service to provide joined-up support. Counselling remains a confidential space for young people, and information shared in sessions is not routinely passed on to others. With informed consent, counsellors may share general strategies that support learning and wellbeing, without disclosing personal details.

Confidentiality is only broken where there are safeguarding concerns or a risk of harm, in line with professional and legal responsibilities. This approach is explained clearly to young people and families from the outset, ensuring transparency, trust and confidence in the support we provide.
