Our therapeutic mentoring supports children and young people to develop confidence
Therapeutic Mentoring
Our therapeutic mentoring supports children and young people to develop confidence, emotional resilience and positive relationships. Using a nurturing, trauma-informed approach, our skilled mentors build trusting relationships and provide consistent, personalised support tailored to each individual’s needs. Through structured activities, reflection and practical strategies, therapeutic mentoring helps students to better understand their emotions, manage challenges and re-engage with learning, empowering them to thrive both in and beyond education.
“As well as being totally reliable, your positive approach and confidence has done wonders. Not only for her confidence in Maths, but also her interactions with adults and her self esteem. Thank you, you are absolutely brilliant at your job.”

Working together ethically
At Searchlight Learning, our tutors, therapeutic mentors and counsellors work together within one service to provide joined-up support. Counselling remains a confidential space for young people, and information shared in sessions is not routinely passed on to others. With informed consent, counsellors may share general strategies that support learning and wellbeing, without disclosing personal details.
Confidentiality is only broken where there are safeguarding concerns or a risk of harm, in line with professional and legal responsibilities. This approach is explained clearly to young people and families from the outset, ensuring transparency, trust and confidence in the support we provide.
